In 2014, the Nebraska Legislature proposed and adopted Neb. Rev. Stat. § 2-5701 providing for the growth and cultivation of industrial hemp for purposes of research, conducted under an agricultural pilot program or other agricultural or academic research by a post-secondary institution or the Department of Agriculture. Accompanying regulations were promulgated by the Department and adopted in June 2015.
Individuals who are interested in industrial hemp research projects may inquire about potential research partnership opportunities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln/Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources/Agricultural Research Division.
